Alright!
I got to play DD on steam (thanks Incodra for giving me a early access code!)
store.steampowered.com/app/406940/
My verdict:
In-game graphics are goregous and that spheric eye effect makes the levels look magical.
Difficulty and Gameplay are hard but yet fun, you guys managed to make a perfect balance in-between (even though I ragequit a level twice but went back on it 1 or 2 hours later )
The gamemodes are original and neat, and they are well introduced (maybe not Maze mode, it was confusing for me and it still is when I'm upside down).
The concept of "challenges" and "multiplayer" are really good.
The music obviously suits the game perfectly.
The achievements are well thought - not too hard to achieve.
But there are some points that can be improved:
1) The interface. No offence but it really looks like you pasted some ugly buttons over an amazing background. It really feels like the buttons don't belong to the game. Maybe making them a little bit less flashy and blurry and redesigning them would fix it. Or maybe it's just me
2) Same problem, smaller scale, in game: the wheel sometimes looks like it's off the background, but I don't know how to explain... But this impression is probably inforced by the trail, which is totally flashy and solid-looking (just like the menu buttons)
3) The Multiplayer mode is good, as I said before, but some sections are way too long sometimes and the second player gets bored if he dies at the beginning of a section. Maybe showing a 10 sec countdown before re-animating would be a good idea (instead of waiting until the next section) (but maybe it's impossible to do since the score is based on it) (idk)
When you think about it, GD 1.0 wasn't a good game. But it gained popularity and now it's a lot more complex.
DD has a great start compared to that (other than these REALLY SMALL imperfections). It just needs some polishing, recognition, and support; but it has a really good potential.
Keep playing and spread the word!
(sorry if I was a bit harsh in the mini review; don't get me wrong: DD is overall a GREAT game!)
